VAR tried their hardest to find a reason to disallow Anthony Gordon's winner for Newcastle United tonight.
In-form Anthony Gordon bagged the winner in a tense affair against Arsenal tonight, although that goal is the huge talking point of the night.
From the ball hitting the back of the net to the referee signaling the goal, it was a wait of over four minutes while VAR looked at everything they could to rule out the goal.
Fortunately for Newcastle and much to the disgust of Mikel Arteta, VAR couldn't conclusively conclude that there was any reason to disallow the goal.
For us, whether the ball had gone out of play before the goal was the main contentious point as the still image used by Sky Sports and VAR made it look like the ball was out, but because of the angle of the image it was impossible to call 100%.
Thankfully, beIN Sports have provided the answer.
Richard Keys and Andy Gray could not have been more gutted when the line showed that the ball was in play by at least an inch.
Gray even tries to question the width of the line, even though it was clearly running along the edge of the painted line on the pitch.
The duo went on to claim that it was offside and a handball by Joelinton, so thank the Football Gods those biased ... people ... weren't in the VAR booth.
So there we have it, definitive proof. Newcastle's goal should have stood, the win was justified. Eddie Howe's Mighty Mags march on.
