Over 30,000 Newcastle United fans were in attendance at Wembley on Sunday as they watched Eddie Howe's lads end 56 years of hurt.

Newcastle hadn't lifted a trophy for 56 years and hadn't won at Wembley for 70 but the Magpies have now put that stat to bed, finally, and the lucky few who got to witness it first-hand certainly did their job roaring the lads on to victory.

For those of us watching at home, the scenes were unbelievable. The contrast in the two sides of the Wembley crowd was amazing.

Liverpool brought their support, we're not going to say they didn't, but while there were plenty there wearing their famous red, there were many more who either weren't wearing the team colours or who had them covered with coats. Meanwhile, the other half of the stadium was awash with black and white. Practically everybody was representing, helped on, of course, by the scarves provided by Sela.

EFL.com were impressed by the noise levels generated by the Toon Army

The official EFL website has written 'Five things we learned from Newcastle United's Carabao Cup victory' and one of their points was worth highlighting, and that was the travelling Toon Army.

"Much is made about Newcastle’s travelling support, and they certainly brought their A-game to Wembley on Sunday.

"From minute one they were in full voice, and you could tell that the support was affecting each and every one of the players on the pitch.

"On multiple occasions during the game, captain Bruno Guimaraes turned to the fans, encouraging them to be even louder."

Newcastle United's fans cheered the club on to victory at Wembley

The Newcastle supporters were hardly, if ever, quiet during the entirety of the game with Liverpool fans rarely heard throughout.

That's understandable, really, as their players didn't give them much to shout about.

33,000 Geordies didn't just witness history first-hand yesterday; they were part of history!
