Newcastle United tease new partnership deal that has fans in a frenzy

Newcastle United's social media team have whipped up quite a storm today by putting out a teaser for an upcoming partnership that involves a 'secret driver'.

While it's clearly a partnership announcement between the club, partners Saudia and a Formula E team, that hasn't stopped users on X from letting their imaginations run wild.

The short video features a character like Top Gear's The Stig, decked out in a racing suit complete with black and white helmet sporting the Newcastle logo with a caption calling him the secret driver.

The clip ends with the driver sitting down as it cuts away just before he lifts off the helmet.

And the Secret Driver is ... we're not saying

You don't have to be Columbo to work out who the 'secret driver' is, the hands and the driver's frame are a dead giveaway, but just in case you want to live your life in suspense we'll not give it away.

As clear as it is a tease for a partnership deal fans are speculating that it's going to be a player reveal, either a new signing or a contract extension.

Most likely these people are playing along for clout, but there are definitely a few out there who haven't managed to put two and two together.

This isn't Newcastle United's first partnership in motorsport

We will find out more about the exciting new partnership in due course, but although the Formula E car in the video doesn't sport it, it would be amazing to see our club logo splashed on the side of a racing car once again.

Those of us of the elder persuasion will remember the time Newcastle United sponsored the Lister Storm team as they entered the Le Mans 24 Hour race.

Those cars looked amazing with the Newcastle crest on their bonnet so we hope to see it appear again somewhere on the Formula E car.
