The 3-0 scoreline from Newcastle United's win away to Leicester City on Monday night would suggest it was a comprehensive victory for the Magpies, however, the reality is slightly different.

Yes, indeed it was quite a comprehensive victory, but it should have been so much more. Leicester City simply didn't turn up and Newcastle didn't have to really get going to put them to the sword.

It was the perfect chance for Newcastle to bag a hatful of goals and improve their goal difference, but after making it 3-0 both sides just sort of gave up. It was almost like a game of walking football.

That being said, Newcastle played well without being spectacular, which is how our Starting XI all ended up with ratings between seven and nine, but at the same time, we wouldn't have expected to find a sea of black and white on anyone's Team of the Week.

Troy Deeney's Team of the Week

Troy Deeney picked Jacob Murphy for his Team of the Week

That being said, maybe one or two would have made sense. I mean, Fabian Schar's 55-yard effort alone makes him worthy of a place, but for Troy Deeney, there was only one Newcastle man he wanted in his Team of the Week.

Jacob Murphy scored another brace for Newcastle making Deeney question whether he's the most underrated player in the league in his write-up for the BBC.

"Jacob Murphy (Newcastle): Two great goals, has he been the most underrated player this season? I would say I don't know of anyone who has gone more under the radar, but has been a seven-and-a-half or an eight out of 10 every game. He's been excellent."

Even we still overly criticise Murphy for a mistake

Murphy is still underrated by his own fans for the most part, after years of watching him needlessly giving the ball away with poor passing or a heavy touch, suddenly he can do no wrong.

It's hard to uncondition yourself to expect the worst, though, so I know for us, whenever Murphy does revert to his old self, those are the things that stick in the mind and get the most attention in our Discord server by the end of the game - unless he scores or assists, which has thankfully been the case most games lately.

We owe Murphy a thousand apologies for not being able to shake that judgemental side, but we're very aware of what he does bring to the side these days.
