On Monday night Newcastle United brushed aside Leicester City 3-0 but it turns out there was something else to celebrate for the Toon.

Kieran Trippier was Eddie Howe's first signing as Newcastle manager and the veteran right-back has been nothing short of a revelation since he took a pay cut to move back to England in 2022.

The former Spurs and England star's leadership both on and off the pitch has been invaluable to Eddie Howe and he's such a big reason that Newcastle are now where they are.

His form had dipped significantly this season due to issues in his personal life, and at times it has looked as though Tripps' time at Newcastle was coming to an end.

600 and still going!

Kieran Trippier passed 600 career games on Monday

Now, though, due to a season-ending injury to Lewis Hall, Kieran Trippier finds himself back in the starting lineup regularly. Tino Livramento has moved to the left flank with Trippier deployed in his favourite right-back position.

The former skipper has been sensational in the last few games like he's turned back the clock on his career to when he first arrived at St James' Park.

Monday night saw the 34-year-old pass a huge milestone making 600 appearances for club and country.

Highlighting his achievement on Instagram, Trippier declared himself 600-not out!

"An achievement I’m very proud of to make 6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ senior appearances in my career. I'm not done yet 👨‍🦳"

Trippier will be a huge part of Newcastle's run-in as the club looks to secure Champions League football, but there's still a huge question mark over what happens next with his contract set to expire next summer. Will Newcastle cash in while they can, or let his contract run down? Could he even be handed another extension?
