Newcastle United notched another Premier League win at the weekend, beating Burnley 2-1 on Saturday and while they made hard work of what should have been a straightforward victory, there was one man who shone brightly in the black and white.

Burnley did all they could to give Newcastle a nice, easy ride, getting a player sent off and conceding a penalty at the end of the first half.

And while Newcastle did score that penalty and took a 2-0 lead into the break thanks to an earlier wonder goal from Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle made hard work of things in the second half.

Anthony Gordon scored the penalty for Newcastle and struck the woodwork twice during the game as he put in one of his better performances of the season.

Bruno Guimaraes in Troy Deeney's Team of the Week

However, it was El Capitan, Bruno Guimaraes, who truly shone for the Magpies, scoring a stunning goal direct from a corner in the first half and almost adding an equally special goal from the outside of his right boot in the second half.

Unsurprisingly, Bruno was selected by Troy Deeney in his Team of the Week for the BBC, calling Bruno the 'heart, soul and spirit' of Newcastle.

"Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle): I'm putting Bruno at the base of a diamond in midfield because he is the heart, soul and spirit of Newcastle's team, and was brilliant again against Burnley. He is just a very good football player and there are not many people you can say that about."

Bruno Guimaraes was fired up for Burnley

Bruno had one of those games where he looked desperate to inspire. He was having a go at the goal every opportunity he could, which we will always applaud.

We complain nearly every week about our players not hitting the speculative efforts when they should, but they don't come much more speculative than having a dig direct from a corner.

We need to see more of this from Bruno. Leading from the front and being the source of inspiration for the attack. We know he can sit back and dictate play, but he's such a force going forward that it's a shame to waste it.
