Newcastle United are in Germany to take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. Kick-off is at 8pm, live on TNT Sports.

We didn't expect Eddie Howe to rest too many players for this one as a win tonight would put Newcastle back in the automatic qualification places in the Champions League.

Howe did say on Tuesday that Sunday's derby wouldn't factor into his team selection tonight, and we think that's run true looking at the players he's selected tonight.

Indeed, we only got one player wrong with our prediction, and while it was the player we said we were 50/50 on, Howe still managed to spring a surprise.

Eddie Howe has made a big call on the right flank

We couldn't decide if Howe was going to play Jacob Murphy or Anthony Elanga on the right wing, but the answer has surprised us as he's played neither.

Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes have both been named in the starting lineup. We suspect it will be Barnes who starts on the right, but the two may switch around as the game goes on.

It also leaves Howe with the options of Jacob Murphy and Anthony Elanga from the bench later in the game.

Lewis Hall andTino Livramento start

Nick Woltemade starts up top with Yoane Wissa on the bench waiting patiently for minutes after making his debut at the weekend.

Howe has gone with the traditional midfield three of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton as we expected he would.

Arron Ramsdale has Malick Thiaw and Dan Burn in front of him, and crucially, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall start. That pair can cause any side problems.

It looks like a good team, we should be able to put up a fight if they players are on it tonight.
