Bayer Leverkusen will host Newcastle United in the Champions League on Wednesday night in an 8pm kick-off live on TNT Sports.

Heading into the game, the Bundesliga side had a major injury concern, fearing that Spanish full-back Alex Grimaldo would miss the Champions League clash.

Grimaldo missed Leverkusen's game at the weekend through injury, and reports last week were suggesting he may not be fit to face Newcastle.

That would have been a huge boost for the Magpies as Grimaldo has been in fine form for the German side, but Leverkusen head coach Kasper Hjulmand has spoiled Newcastle's party early.

Alex Grimaldo should be fit to face Newcastle

Bayer Leverkusen have very few injury concerns heading into the game against Newcastle

As quoted in Bulinews, Hjulmand is expecting Grimaldo to be available for Wednesday's game.

“He looked good today and yesterday, so we are confident about ‘Grima’.

"We are almost at full strength. Of course, there are players who are not in the squad, but the only injured player is (Exequiel) Palacios,"

We are expecting a very close game in Germany

A full-strength Bayer Leverkusen on their home turf is going to be an epic challenge for Newcastle on Wednesday, but it's one that our players should be able to rise to. At least we'd like to think so.

We couldn't possibly call this one, but we have a feeling it's going to be a very tight game.

If Newcastle can keep their composure for a full 90 minutes and not nod off in the last few minutes, we've got every chance of picking up a vital win, but this season, who knows?
