Eddie Howe is desperate to add extra firepower to Newcastle United's attack as it seems increasingly likely Callum Wilson will leave the club this summer.

That would leave just Alexander Isak and Will Osula as recognised first-team strikers with the latter not yet trusted by Howe to lead the line in high-profile games.

Recently, the Magpies have been consistently linked with Fiorentina's in-form frontman, Moise Kean who was recently placed on the shortlist for the prestigious Ballon d'Or.

Newcastle feel they can lure the former Everton and Fulham man back to the Premier League for another crack at the best league in the world.

Newcastle have made contact over a potential summer move for Moise Kean

It's being reported by Calciomercato in Italy that Fiorentina could be ready to cash in on Kean who has a €55 million (£47 million) release clause in his contract.

Newcastle aren't the only Premier League side interested in Kean with Tottenham and Arsenal also keen, but the Italian outlet has reported that Newcastle are the first to have made 'direct contact' with Kean's agents ahead of the summer.

Kean has 20 goal involvements in 28 games in Serie A this season and given his ability to play on either flank as well as centre-forward, he becomes a very attractive proposition.

Moise Kean could be the ideal signing for Newcastle this summer

He has to be high up on Paul Mitchell and Eddie Howe's target list for the summer.

We're still keeping everything crossed that we can scoop up Jonathan David on a free to keep our transfer kitty for other positions, but the fact that Kean can play right across the front means that forking out £47 million may not be such a bad move.

Beating Arsenal to his signing after the way they've gone on about Alexander Isak would be a nice little cherry on top too.
