At the weekend Southampton were relegated from the Premier League with seven games remaining, a new record in the English top flight.

Paul Mitchell, Eddie Howe and the rest of the Newcastle United recruitment team were likely rubbing their hands together expecting to pick up a bargain from their fallen foes.

Obviously, Newcastle won't be the only vultures circling the Saints looking to pick off their best players, but the Magpies have two players in their sights already.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been a long-term target for the Magpies, even before his move to the South Coast, but this season, Newcastle have been keeping a close eye on attacking midfielder Tyler Dibling.

Tyler Dibling could be available for a relative bargain

Tyler Dibling's price tag has been slashed according to new report

The 19-year-old has been monitored by Newcastle ever since he scored a hat trick of near-identical goals against Newcastle when he was just 16.

Southampton had recently tried to slap a £100 million price tag on Dibling, but Caught Offside are now reporting that a more sensible figure is likely to be in play in the summer.

With Manchester United and Newcastle watching on, it's now believed that Dibling will be available for a fee closer to £35 million at the end of the season.

Newcastle would be crazy to pass up the chance to sign Dibling

Deemed too good to return to the Championship, it does feel inevitable that Dibling will move this summer, it's just a case of where.

The youngster is reportedly not keen on signing another deal with the Saints so they are best off cashing in on him while they can.

Dibling has shown a lot of promise this season playing in an abysmal Southampton side and if we could scoop him up for £35 million we'd actually be mental to not be in that conversation. Let's hope we are and that we can beat the competition.
