Alan Shearer opts for two Newcastle United stars in his Premier League Team of the Week including 'outstanding' defender

You can always rely on Alan Shearer for a sprinkle of Newcastle United bias when it comes to naming his Premier League Team of the Week.

The former Newcastle number nine will always try and add a Toon player or two if they manage to win, and despite Monday night's game being about as pedestrian as a Premier League performance can get, Shearer still found two spots for Newcastle players in his Team of the Week for the Premier League.

Newcastle weren't bad on Monday night by any means, but Leicester City were, and that meant that the Magpies barely had to try. Once they amassed a three-goal lead, they pretty much just stopped trying.

Leicester stopped trying after 15 seconds, so really, Newcastle's players were probably made to look better than they were by comparison, even though everyone was solid, nobody really got out of second gear.

Alan Shearer handed Jacob Murphy and Tino Livramento spots in his Team of the Week

Having scored two goals, you could argue that Jacob Murphy earned a spot in Shearer's team of the week, and we wouldn't have been opposed to seeing Fabian Schar in there too just for his crazy 55-yard lob attempt.

However, Alan Shearer gave a spot to Tino Livramento who once again played on the opposite flank to what he's used to and put in another top performance, grabbing another assist in the process. Fair play.

It's crazy how wrong I was about Tino Livramento on the left

It's amazing how it was just a couple of weeks ago I was panicking about Tino playing on the left given how he's reluctant to cross when playing down the side he's comfortable playing.

Now, suddenly, he's an assist machine, pinging crosses in with his left foot like it's nothing. His little bestie, Lewis Hall, must be fearing for his job watching him lately.

Thomas Tuchel has to be taking note of Livramento's form lately, and the 22-year-old has to be in line for being more than a benchwarmer.
