Newcastle United seem pretty desperate for a striker who can actually score goals, as that doesn't seem to be the case for Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa this season.

In fairness, both have pretty solid excuses. Wissa has never been fully fit, and we simply don't know how to integrate Woltemade.

Still, those excuses don't help us when it comes to putting the ball in the net, so we expect there's a good chance that we will be shopping for another centre-forward in the summer.

We just hope it's not the one we keep seeing being linked with a move to Newcastle in some corners of the internet

Say it ain't so

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Al-Hilal reject Darwin Nunez lately

Thankfully, for the most part, those corners of the internet are the less-reliable ones, such as Football Insider and Caught Offside, so we're not putting too much stock in this rumour, but it's been so persistent over the last couple of weeks that I'm worried they're going to will it into existence.

I'm talking, of course, about the relentless links to Liverpool flop Darwin Nunez, who has managed to even flop in Saudi Arabia, having been dumped out of the Al-Hilal squad after they brought in Karim Benzema.

If you've ever read any of my stuff in the past, you'll know my thoughts on Darwin Nunez. If you haven't, let's just say, I don't rate him. AT ALL.

We don't believe there is a lick of truth to Newcastle's interest in Darwin Nunez

Fortunately, there have already been murmurs that Newcastle have zero interest in Nunez, so it does feel like it's highly unlikely to develop into anything, but it's just making me feel uneasy that it's even out there at all.

We already have two strikers who can't find the net. Do we need one who has launched more balls into orbit than NASA has satellites?

The 26-year-old has flattered to deceive for years, but if the fact that Al-Hilal didn't register him isn't the biggest red flag, I don't know what is.
