Newcastle United's first team isn't the only squad to undergo a shake-up this summer with several of the club's young stars expected to leave the club in the coming weeks.

One such player is former West Ham man Amadou Diallo who, it was revealed a few weeks back, is leaving once his contract expires.

Diallo had been on the fringes of the first team, having been called up several times by Eddie Howe this season when the injury crisis was biting its hardest. Diallo also played in both games in Australia and was one of the few players to come away from Friday's game with any dignity.

Now, taking to social media, the young forward has said his goodbyes to the club as even those first-team appearances couldn't save his future on Tyneside.

Diallo thanked the club and the fans in his goodbye message

Saying his goodbye, Diallo thanked the club and the fans.

"My time at Newcastle United has come to an end. Firstly, I would like to thank the club for giving me a great opportunity to play for them. I would also like to give a massive thank you to the fans for their support as I really enjoyed representing the club."

It's another glimpse at the harder parts of being a footballer. From the outside, it looked like Diallo had done enough to earn another deal at the club, but it shows how little we know of what happens behind the scenes.

More youth players who look decent are set to leave along with Diallo

Other youngsters expected to leave who we feel deserve another shot are Lucas De Bolle who, like Diallo, was one of the few players who looked anywhere near decent on Friday, and Dylan Stephenson who bagged himself a goal yesterday in the HK Soccer Sevens game against Tai Po.

Both players have also found themselves on the bench of Eddie Howe's first team this season, but it's a case of close but no cigar.

These promising youngsters leave, and yet Jeff Hendrick is still on the books, albeit just until June 30th and then his contract expires.
