Alexander Isak starts for Newcastle United versus Leicester City despite rumours suggesting he hadn't traveled

Newcastle United and Leicester City will provide the entertainment after the Sky Sports team talk about literally anything else for an hour on Monday Night Football with the Magpies and Foxes kicking off at 8pm at the King Power Stadium.

The two clubs could not be coming into this game with more contrasting fortunes. Newcastle United are still riding high from their Carabao Cup win, bolstered by a Premier League win against Brentford last week.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are on a run of seven straight Premier League defeats during which time they have failed to find the net in any game.

Results over the weekend have massively helped Newcastle in their quest for Champions League football next season, and a win tonight would go a long way to making that dream a reality.

Eddie Howe names an unchanged side once again

Eddie Howe has named the strongest side possible in a bid to do just that, and despite rumours swirling around on Social Media due to some desperate ITK, Alexander Isak did travel with the Newcastle squad to Leicester.

Not only did Isak travel, but he's also in the starting lineup along with, as we expected, Harvey Barnes with Anthony Gordon not even available to take up a spot on the bench.

Indeed, it is a case of "as you were" for Eddie Howe, as we suspected it would be barring any of those niggles Howe spoke about becoming something more.

The only changes are on the bench with Matt Targett back replacing youngster Leo Shahar and John Ruddy replacing Joe Willock who misses out due to concussion.
