Newcastle United could be about to receive a boost to their bank balance this summer as a former player looks set to move on.

Although it has been disputed, there are claims that Newcastle will still receive a percentage of any sale of Ivan Toney despite already profiting from his sale from Peterborough to Brentford.

The Magpies banked around £3million when POSH sold Toney to Brentford for £10million, but some reports are claiming that Newcastle would still receive 9% of the fee from his next move.

Ivan Toney is now worth considerably more than £10million with Tottenham Hostpur reportedly having a £40million bid rejected by Brentford according to The Shields Gazette.

Spurs have reportedly agreed terms with Ivan Toney

Newcastle could bag almost £6million if Spurs and Brentford agree terms

It's claimed that Spurs have already agreed terms with Toney and it's now just down to the two clubs to agree a fee with the Bees holding out for something closer to £65million.

If that were to be the agreed fee, Newcastle would bag almost £6million from the deal.

However, Peterborough chairman Darragh McAthony has claimed that Newcastle's second sell-on clause is 'total misinformation'.

Ivan Toney has been linked with a return to Newcastle

It's a new one on me that a player could have a second sell-on clause in their contract, but I suppose clubs can add pretty much anything these days.

Ivan Toney has often been linked with a return to Newcastle and given our need for a new striker, it's not too unbelievable, but his asking price is likely way beyond what Eddie Howe would be looking to spend on one player this summer.

Although if that clause does exist, at least we get an in-built 9% discount.
