The fear-mongering media tried their best to suggest that Alexander Isak would be a doubt for Newcastle United going into the Carabao Cup Final but now the striker has put all of our fears to bed.

Alexander Isak was withdrawn early in the last two games after missing the Premier League match against Liverpool with some people trying to suggest that he wasn't 100% fit and could be a doubt for the Carabao Cup Final.

Thankfully, most people saw through the reports. After all, Isak played the majority of both games after the Liverpool absence, and while he didn't have his best games in a black and white shirt, he certainly didn't look injured.

In fact, most fans were hoping Eddie Howe would take him out of those games early to ensure that he was fit for Sunday's cup final.

Alexander Isak is fit and ready to go

Alexander Isak has downplayed the rumours that he was injured

Isak spoke to the media this morning (via The Chronicle) alongside Eddie Howe and Bruno Guimaraes and when asked how he was feeling going into the final, Isak was full of confidence and determined to rubbish any claims he was anything but fit and raring to go.

"I have not been injured, I have just had a bit of tiredness. It has been dramatic.

"I feel good. I am really excited for the game. The best way to prepare is to train as normal. It will come down to what we do as a team, and that is all we can focus on. I am excited but focused on the job.

"I just want to be the best version of myself. I have high ambitions. I am trying to create my own history at Newcastle. Happy with what I have done so far but always looking forward. It's hard work and training and the mentality to want to get better. I have ambitions to achieve in my career and be the best version of myself."

Isak's tiredness highlights just how badly Newcastle need a new striker through the door

This tiredness goes back to what we've been saying for a year now. He needs backup. Callum Wilson can't be relied upon and is likely to leave in the summer while Will Osula still has to play his way into Eddie Howe's plans.

We can't put all of the responsibility on the shoulders of one man. Even Mo Salah gets a rest every now and then.

Let's not run him into the ground, please. That being said, we would like 110% on Sunday from the Swede.
