Alexander Isak's Newcastle United future has been a hot topic of discussion for months, particularly when it comes to Arsenal's interest in the Swedish forward.

Newcastle's number 14 is currently widely regarded as one of, if not the best striker in world football right now and with such accolades comes inevitable speculation, especially when that player is plying their trade at a club who aren't known for winning trophies.

We'd be lying if we said we didn't understand the speculation, but that doesn't mean we can't be annoyed by it, especially when it's relentless and clearly lies.

Isak's contract at Newcastle runs until 2028 so there's no rush for the club to offer him new terms, but given his performances, some form of recognition is inevitable and as such, contract talks are expected to take place at the end of the season.

Alexander Isak can achieve his goals at Newcastle

Alexander Isak has no thoughts of leaving Newcastle United

Speaking to The Chronicle, Isak has now spoken about his future and has once again assured fans that he's not thinking of leaving Newcastle and even says he believes he can achieve his goals while at the club.

"Yeah, as I have said. I am not really thinking about the summer yet.

"That will be a talking point when the season is finished. No talks have been held yet.

"I mean, that is why I came here. I have said many times that I don't really think too much about my future. I have said many times I am happy here and we are competing for titles which is what you want as a football player. We have been to one final and now we are in another one.

"The chances are there. We should look at it one season at a time, and this season we can win a trophy. I have said many times I am focused on doing a job. All of our focus is on Sunday and bringing a trophy back."

Newcastle can start to put an end to all this constant speculation on Sunday

Bringing home the Carabao Cup on Sunday would be a good start in terms of proving to the world that Newcastle aren't here to make up the numbers and that we deserve to have players like Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes on our books.

The media narrative that Newcastle's top players will want to leave needs to come to an end, but until we start winning trophies, it's going to be hard to stop them.

Let's lay that first stone on Sunday by beating Liverpool at Wembley!
