Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales has been chatting with the media after releasing the club's financial results for the year ending June 2024.

While the headlines have been about the impressive rate of revenue growth that the club continues to show year on year, the average supporter just wants to know about transfer plans more than anything else.

It's no surprise that the media pointed towards all the speculation around Alexander Isak when given the opportunity to speak with Darren Eales.

The star striker has been consistently linked with a summer exit, particularly if Newcastle fail to secure a spot in next season's Champions League.

Darren Eales is very confident of keeping the core of the team at the club

Darren Eales has echoed the words of Eddie Howe in saying that the aim is to keep hold of their stars and build the team around them and has gone as far to say that contract talks with Isak will reopen at the end of the season (via The Northern Echo).

“We're in a position now where because of the fact we were able to move a couple of players in January (2024) that weren't really impacting on minutes on the pitch.

"We've got that wish and desire to keep our key players, they're all under long-term contracts. So from that perspective we have no intention at all of those players being moved on, and we're not under the gun or anything like that. We've got an ownership that is ambitious, wants the best for the club. From that perspective, it'd be crazy for us to consider it.

"We’re going to be clear – he (Alexander Isak) has multi years left so all of these things, we will have the discussions in terms of a new deal just like we did with, whether it’s Joelinton, Bruno or Anthony Gordon.

"That’s something that we will approach in the summer.”

Money talks in football

It's a defiant message by the CEO, and one we have no reason to believe isn't 100% true. However, anything can happen between now and then, and you can never be entirely certain that the club won't sell a big player.

With all the best will in the world, money talks and there could be a point where an offer becomes simply too good to turn down.

We're not talking specifically about Isak here, by the way, we really don't see there being any figure that any club could quote that would get the club to budge as there is nobody better out there making him literally impossible to replace, but other stars don't have that same security.
