Newcastle United were linked with a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani in January before the Frenchman opted to join Juventus for the remainder of the season.

Kolo Muani moved to Turin in January and had the perfect start with The Old Lady bagging five goals in his first three games for Juventus, but things have dried up in front of goal for the 26-year-old.

In 14 games for PSG at the start of the season, Kolo Muani only managed two goals and one assist, so overall he has been misfiring, which is why PSG were shopping him out at the turn of the year.

Juventus' loan deal doesn't include an option or obligation to buy and it's now believed by Calciomercato that if he doesn't start finding the back of the net again, Juventus will end their interest in trying to keep him beyond this season.

Newcastle's interest in Randal Kolo Muani comes with that well used caveat

Enter Newcastle United who are now being linked with a move for Kolo Muani in the summer if Alexander Isak leaves. That good old caveat.

It seems that every time Newcastle are mentioned alongside a striker it's only if we sell Isak, as if we're only allowed one top striker at a time.

That being said, looking at Kolo Muani's form this season, would we even want him as a backup for Isak, never mind a replacement?

PSG paid over £76 million for Randal Kolo Muani in 2023 and are already trying to move him on

Paris Saint-Germain forked out £76 million for Kolo Muani in September 2023 and he managed six goals and five assists in 26 Ligue 1 games, which is pretty poor for a forward that cost the best part of £80 million.

The move came off the back of a fantastic season in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt where he managed 15 goals and 13 assists in 32 league games, catching the eye of many a big club, Newcastle included.

There's every chance that Kolo Muani could rediscover his form at the right club, but he looks like a massive risk right now, and certainly not the player we'd need should we have to replace Alexander Isak ... which we won't.
