This summer is set to be a huge one in the transfer market for Newcastle United as Paul Mitchell will take charge of his first summer window after three poor windows recruitment-wise.

Newcastle used January to free up some headroom in terms of PSR, while last summer was simply about surviving PSR while January 2024 was a cautious one with the club foreseeing the PSR problems.

However, this summer it's expected that Newcastle can and will spend which should see some new faces coming in.

Newcastle have several positions that are desperately in need of extra depth and quality, whether all positions will be filled, we're not sure, it's a big ask.

Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak will be hot property in the summer

Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle should brace themselves for some big bids

While recruitment is the main priority for Newcastle this summer, there will likely be the odd departure, however the club are adamant that they will retain their best players, such as Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, who are constantly touted in the media as potential exits.

Fabrizio Romano has now broached the subject for Give Me Sport, but the transfer specialist, while not ruling out a big-name exit, has suggested that it is very unlikely, but Newcastle are going to have to turn down some big offers.

“Newcastle will do their best to keep their stars, for sure, but it won’t be easy. Big proposals are coming, especially for Isak, so it will be complicated to keep both [Isak and Guimaraes].”

We'd be shocked if anyone comes close to Alexander Isak's valuation

Newcastle tentatively put up a £150m asking price on Alexander Isak in the winter to deter suitors, and we'd be amazed if anyone comes in with anything close to that in the summer.

Even if they do, Newcastle are still in a strong enough position to reject it. As good as it would be to have that money in our coffers, the potential money we could bring in thanks to having the likes of Alexander Isak will far outweigh that initial sum.

If Newcastle want to win titles and compete regularly in the Champions League, which is where the real money comes from, they'll need players like Bruno and Isak. Selling them makes no real sense unless we find ourselves in a financial hole again - which, as we know, should never happen given our wealthy backers.
