Jacob Murphy took a big risk returning from injury yesterday following his shoulder dislocation against Borussia Dortmund.

When Jacob Murphy went off injured in the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, it looked like he was going to be missing for a while after it was clear he'd dislocated his shoulder in a bad landing.

It was definitely a surprise, then, to see his name on the teamsheet yesterday, albeit on the bench.

Clearly, Jacob Murphy was confident that he had recovered enough and he'd convinced the medical staff that he was fit enough to play too.

Murphy was clearly in agony as he came off the pitch

We all know by now that if Jacob Murphy is on the bench, Eddie Howe is going to use him, and that's what he did, bringing him on just after the hour mark to replace Miguel Almiron.

It wasn't long before Murphy was in the thick of it, firing the ball across the face of goal which led to Anthony Gordon's winner.

Murphy was wrong

Unfortunately, he only lasted another 10 minutes or so as when running towards goal his shoulder popped out of joint again. You could see how much pain he was in as he walked off the pitch again.

It didn't dampen his spirits though as he took to Instagram to share an update saying:

"Tonight was a risk but a risk I felt was worth taking to be out there and fight with my team! 3 big points"

Goal-scoring hero Anthony Gordon was straight into the replies with a quality three-word message.

"What a guy"

What a guy indeed, Anthony. What a guy, indeed.
