Newcastle United take on Manchester United in the Premier League at St James' Park tonight. Kick-off is at 8:15pm live on TNT Sports.

The Magpies are starting to be cut adrift in the Premier League race for Europe now, and it looks like it would take a miracle run of wins for Newcastle to stand any chance of landing a European spot next season.

Results certainly didn't go Newcastle's way last night, so it's on them to repair the damage under the lights at St James' Park tonight.

It won't be easy with Manchester United being one of the most in-form teams in the division right now, but Eddie Howe has won his last three home games against Man United, which is a good sign.

Eddie Howe has made a bold call in goal tonight

Eddie Howe has sprung one big surprise with his starting lineup by dropping Nick Pope after his howler against Everton on Saturday. Aaron Ramsdale starts between the posts tonight.

Yoane Wissa has to make do with a place on the bench, as once again, Howe has gone with Anthony Gordon as the centre-forward, which must be absolutely shattering the Congolese striker's confidence.

Jacob Ramsey returns to the midfield alongside Sandro Tonali and Joelinton after his illness, while that same illness has kept Nick Woltemade out of the squad altogether.

Dan Burn in defence against Man United's pace is a big concern

We're not too convinced with Dan Burn starting in the middle of the defence when Sven Botman is fit, as the big man has been struggling of late, and Manchester United have the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko who can run rings around him.

Botman is on the bench at least, and it may just be a protection thing if he's not 100% ready to play 90 minutes yet.

Michael Carrick's side looks very strong, and we can see that Newcastle are going to have their work cut out for them, but that will just make the victory all the sweeter if we pull it off.
