Sandro Tonali names Newcastle United teammate as the most underrated player he's played with

The word 'underrated' has been thrown around a lot at Newcastle United in the last couple of years since Eddie Howe came in and dramatically improved several players.

The rise of Joelinton was one we didn't see coming, and while he's no longer underrated, there was a time when he was very correctly rated as poor, but Eddie Howe turned that all around for the Brazilian.

Lately, you could definitely say Jacob Murphy is underrated, although, again, his performances this year have been pretty consistent, so he's perhaps moved out of the 'underrated' category, too.

A one I'd throw into the mix is Harvey Barnes as I still don't think he gets the credit he deserves after being overshadowed by Anthony Gordon for so long.

In a clip doing the rounds on social media, Sandro Tonali answered a few quick-fire questions, naming his football idol growing up as Genarro Gattuso and the best player he's played alongside as Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, when asked who the most underrated teammate he's had, he brought it back to Newcastle.

That must feel like a massive compliment for Longy coming from Tonali. It also explains why Eddie Howe was always so determined to stick by the academy graduate when fans would roll their eyes at the mere mention of his name on a match day.

Sean Longstaff is expected to leave the club this summer after realising his dream of lifting a trophy with his boyhood club.

A lack of minutes is what's likely to force Longstaff to make the move, but Eddie Howe has left the door open for him to stay.
