Lewis Hall knows what Newcastle United need to look for against Barcelona to exploit their game
Lewis Hall is relishing the chance to shine for Newcastle United tonight against Barcelona in the knockout phase of the Champions League. Kick-off at St James' Park is at 8pm, and is live on Amazon Prime Video.
Hall has been Newcastle's standout star this season, but tonight, he'll come up against arguably the best young player in the world in the form of Yamine Lamal.
The Newcastle full-back spoke about his excitement of facing off against Lamal in his press conference on Monday, but Hall has since spoken to Prime Video's Gabriel Clarke ahead of tonight's game.
In the interview, Hall spoke about how Barcelona plays and what Newcastle can do to exploit them.
Lewis Hall has already spotted the chinks in Barcelona's armour
Hall told Gabriel Clarke (via The Chronicle) that Newcastle will look to expose Barcelona's high line.
"We know from what we’ve seen that they play a very high line.
"They do it very well and although it can be a strength, it’s something that we can exploit as well. It’s important we attack these games and don’t let them pass us by.
"We relish that and as a squad we have qualified to this stage through our hard work. We got ourselves in this position and we’re motivated to continue this momentum."
Newcastle need to get the bulk of the job done tonight
Hitting Barcelona on the counter is likely to be the tactic over both legs, but we'll be hoping that we're a bit more proactive at home tonight, not only to try and establish a lead ahead of the second leg, but to take full advantage of the St James' Park atmosphere while they can.
Indeed, Hall even spoke about the importance of feeding off the crowd.
"The first thing we need is to find a balance of the excitement of occasion and playing our way.
"We know our principles, and what we need to be at our best in big games. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment but we need to stay level-headed and present to feed off of the crowd."
