When Jacob Ramsey's one-match ban will be served after sending off in Premier League on Wednesday
Newcastle United midfielder Jacob Ramsey picked up a one-match ban for his ridiculous red card against Manchester United in the 2-1 Premier League win last night.
The former Aston Villa midfielder received a second yellow card for simulation after already picking up a caution for a tug on Casemiro.
Even though Ramsey made no attempt to deceive the referee, Peter Bankes, the ref brandished a second yellow card after an intervention from four Manchester United players, reducing Newcastle to 10 men for the entirety of the second half (and the 10 minutes he added on to the end of the first period).
Thankfully, in the end, it didn't really matter to the outcome of the game as Newcastle were able to snatch a win thanks to a 90th-minute wonder-goal from Will Osula.
Jacob Ramsey will miss Saturday's FA Cup clash against Manchester City
Newcastle's next game is in the FA Cup on Saturday against Manchester City, and punishments from the Premier League do carry over into the FA Cup, which means Ramsey will miss the game at St James' Park on Saturday night.
He joins Fabian Schar, Emil Krafth, Lewis Miley and Bruno Guimaraes as players definitely out of Saturday's game.
Tino Livramento could be available again, as could Nick Woltemade after the latter picked up the same illness that forced Ramsey to miss the second half against Everton.
Newcastle have two big players close to a return from lengthy absences
Miley is targeting the away leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Barcelona as his comeback game, which puts him out for at least another three games.
Tino Livramento's return is the key one for us right now. Kieran Trippier was outstanding last night, but the 35-year-old is playing every couple of days week in week out, and surely that's not sustainable at the level he's playing.
We absolutely can't knock his endeavour, but we definitely feel that a rest has been well earned at this point.
