Journalist names three players expected to leave Newcastle United this summer with at least six new signings coming in
It sounds like Newcastle United are gearing up for a summer of change with plenty of player movement expected in the summer transfer window.
Last summer, Newcastle brought in six players, but this season they have still found that the squad simply isn't deep enough to compete on four fronts.
That hasn't been helped by how long it has taken some of these signings to get up to speed for the club this campaign.
However, despite the cautionary tale of last summer, it sounds like the Toon are ready to go again by bringing in another raft of new faces.
Newcastle's transfer business has to be much better this summer
With Ross Wilson in place as sporting director, we're expecting that transfer business will operate much more smoothly this time around, and if Craig Hope's information is correct, he's going to have to make sure he gets things right.
In a Q&A for the Daily Mail, Hope has claimed that three key players are expected to leave in the summer and there could be as many as eight new faces coming in.
"It’s likely that loanee Aaron Ramsdale will return to Southampton, while Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth will leave on free transfers (Fabian Schar is also yet to sign an extension) and there is no certainty over the futures of Tino Livramento, Sandro Tonali or Anthony Gordon, even though the latter pair are contracted until 2030."
Tino and Sandro could also leave this summer
Craig Hope went on to cast doubt over the futures of Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali.
We've pretty much resigned ourselves to the idea that Livramento will head to Manchester City in teh seummer, so that one isn't much of a shock.
Hope hasn't said that Sandro Tonali has indicated a desire to leave, but also says he hasn't officially stated that he wants to stay either, suggesting that a suitable offer could be seriously considered.
Losing those two players would be a massive set back for Newcastle, even with eight new players coming in. But if that's the way things pan out, there's nothing we can do about it except support the lads we have.
