Newcastle United have reportedly made contact with another Italian side over a central defender in the wake of asking Juventus about Dean Huijsen.

The Magpies look to be casting a wide net after recently contacting Juventus for information on 19-year-old defender Dean Huijsen.

Football Insider now claims that Newcastle are in the hunt for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

The England international defender who was mysteriously absent from Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad, has surfaced as a potential target for Eddie Howe.

Pinch of salt required for this one for now

This is another story that we'd have to take with much sodium chloride, however, given that it has come from Football Insider's "sources" which is usually code for "It's a slow news day so we've made something up".

Tomori played in both Champions League games against Newcastle last season and looked really solid.

The 26-year-old has been at Milan since 2021 after leaving Chelsea and has made 142 outings for the Italian giants.

We've got our fingers crossed there's some truth to the report

While we aren't convinced there's much truth in this one yet, we have our fingers crossed that there is something in this.

AC Milan signed Tomori from Chelsea for £25million so we'd expect that we'd have to pay more than that to take him back to the Premier League, but if he is available, we say go for it.

We've been admirers of Tomori for a while and if there's an opportunity for him to return to the Premier League with Newcastle then we'd be absolutely buzzing.
