Newcastle United are eyeing a deal for Premier League stars Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrod Bowen this summer.

According to Luke Edwards of the Telegraph, both players have featured "prominently" in recruitment meetings.

Although ambitious, the club believe they can get both deals done this summer.

Edwards also reported that interest in both players is genuine and both players are on a "very short list of targets" this summer.

Bowen has been a long-term target for Newcastle

Former Toon boss Steve Bruce recently admitted that Bowen was waiting in Wetherby services to get the green light to move to Newcastle.

Unfortunately, former owner Mike Ashley refused to fork out the transfer fee for him and he joined West Ham and won a European title.

After agreeing deals for Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo, signing a right winger is the top priority for Newcastle with several options being discussed including Crystal Palace's Michael Olise and Wolves' Pedro Neto.

Reports elsewhere suggest that Olise would be ready to snub any approach by Newcastle in favour of a move to Manchester United

Calvert-Lewin would be a direct replacement for Callum Wilson

Calvert-Lewin has had a decent Premier League campaign, scoring seven goals in the top flight this season.

Edwards reported that the 27-year-old is much admired and the recruitment team are convinced that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will get more out of him and will score more goals in an attacking team.

Wilson is expected to leave the club this summer with his contract running out next summer.
