'We go again': Bruno Guimaraes issues strong words of encouragement from treatment table after big game against Barcelona
Newcastle United are devastatingly unlucky not to be taking a 1-0 lead to Barcelona next week after conceding a penalty in the final seconds of the game against the Spanish giants last night.
Last-minute penalty drama seems to follow Newcastle in the Champions League, but at least on this occasion, we still have time to put things right.
Newcastle were the better side last night and were good value for their win, but a stroke of bad luck took the wind out of the Geordies' sails right at the death.
If we use it properly, though, it could be used as fuel to spur us on to take the game to Barca on their home turf next week.
Bruno Guimaraes issued encouragement via Instagram last night
Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes is still in Brazil as he recovers from his hamstring injury, but he still took to Instagram to send the lads some words of encouragement.
“Tremendous effort from the boys, couldn’t ask for more! Very unlucky in the end. We go again next week.”
Bruno will still be sidelined when the lads travel to Spain next week, but no doubt he'll be watching and screaming along like the rest of us.
Bruno is eyeing Crystal Palace as his first game back next month
It's thought that Bruno is still on track for a return to action early in April, with the game against Crystal Palace on the 11th pencilled in as a possible return.
Newcastle have had to find a way to win without the Brazilian in the side, something they had struggled to do ever since he arrived on Tyneside in January 2022.
There were definitely moments last night where we felt we could have used Bruno's eye for a killer pass, but overall the lads did exceptionally well without him.
