Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers could be about to do battle over the signing of a Paraguayan forward with two goals in two games in the Argentina Liga Profesional.

The season has just got underway in Argentina and CA Talleres have two wins in as many games with their 24-year-old forward Ramon Sosa netting in each of them from the left-wing, also providing an assist in the second game.

Newcastle have had scouts in Argentina for a while looking over the likes of Kevin Zenon and it seems they've also been playing close attention to Paraguay international Ramon Sosa who has the same agent as our very own Miguel Almiron.

Agent, Daniel Campos has claimed that Sosa dreams of playing in the Premier League while also saying that Chelsea have expressed an interest but don't see him as as priority signing. Newcastle and now Wolves could be interested, however, that's according to journalist Cristian Martin who told Paraguayan outlet Versus that he expects Wolves to 'get in the fight' to sign Sosa.

Newcastle could pick up Sosa for under £16m

CA Talleres president Andres Fassi admitted that Sosa will 'surely' leave this summer with £15.7million said to be enough to seal the deal.

That low fee could tempt Newcastle, especially as Sosa can play on either flank or as a second striker. Talleres have been deploying him on the left this season, but if Howe could get him to switch to the right he could be a promising signing.

We could see Eddie Howe swapping one Paraguayan for another as Miguel Almiron looks set to leave this summer, despite Daniel Campos insisting otherwise.

Sosa looks like an upgrade on Almiron

Granted it's just a skills package but the above video shows a player with a lot to his game, pace, quick thinking and an eye for goal. And unlike his fellow countryman, doesn't seem allergic to using his weaker foot.

We aren't sure how much stock to put in this story, but we like the look of him (based off one video of all his best bits that filter out anything poor he's done), and his stats this season (albeit in two games) are promising.

For under £16million this has to be worth a punt, right? He looks like an upgrade on Miggy at least.
