We recently reported on Newcastle United's growing interest in 22-year-old Boca Juniors winger Kevin Zenon.

The Magpies have a long-standing interest in Zenon and have been tracking him since before he made the move to Boca Juniors in January.

Since making that move, Zenon has played in 19 games for Boca scoring three goals and providing four assists which has only helped to intensify Newcastle's interest.

It's now being reported by journalist Martin Costa via Bolavip that Newcastle could be about to make their move.

Newcastle could secure Zenon for next to nothing

Zenon has a €15million (£12.8million) release clause in his contract, but it's yet to be seen if Newcastle will go in with the full offer or try to shave a bit off the asking price.

Costa says Newcastle have ‘again expressed an intention’ to sign Zenon and could make a ‘concrete offer’, however, Boca Juniors are reluctant to sell which does suggest that we might have to go in with the full amount.

At under £13million it's surely a risk worth taking for such a promising young talent.

We still don't really see where he fits in

Again, though, it must be stressed that Zenon is a left-sided winger which is an area of the pitch for which Eddie Howe has ample cover so we're not sure how he'd fit in, or whether Newcastle are expecting to lose personnel this summer who can cover that position.

Our three obvious left-wingers are Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak, and we can't see any of those three leaving to make way for an unproven entity.

It's an interesting one as Zenon looks like an exciting prospect and at £13million it's too good to pass up, but how often would we see him in action? Unless of course he turns out to be phenomenal and makes our current wingers look average - doubtful.
