Newcastle United made only paid money for one first-team addition in the summer with Will Osula coming to St James' Park from Sheffield United for around £15 million.

Lloyd Kelly also arrived from Bournemouth on a free transfer, but was later shipped off to Juventus in January after failing to make much of an impact.

Meanwhile, Will Osula has barely featured this season, making only three starts, none of which came in Premier League games.

He has, however, made some form of impact in the cup, with his only goal of the season coming in the FA Cup tie against Bromley.

Newcastle fans are excited at the prospect of Will Osula

Fans are excited to see what Osula can do if given the chance as his cameo appearances this season have shown signs of promise.

He does tend to run around like a chicken with its head cut off, but his pace, power and determination make him exciting to watch.

Then of course there's the stunning finish for his goal against Bromley which gave us an insight into why he was brought to Newcastle.

Craig Hope says the club feels Will Osula has improved since he first arrived

Craig Hope has spoken on his YouTube channel about what he expects Newcastle will do with Osula next season after being limited to just a handful of outings this season.

“What I can say is the reports I’m getting back. They like him, he’s improved, there’s something to work with there and I would expect to see the Will Osula project continue into next season.”

Osula seems to be a popular figure in the dressing room, known for being a bit loud and crazy, which does seem to translate into his style of play.

We've said a few times this season that it feels like he's treading the same path as Lewis Hall, in that he will be barely used in his first season and expected to kick on in his second.

Hopefully we'll see more of him next season, but we also expect that he'll have even more competition for a place in the team after the summer too.
