Newcastle United could find themselves in a quasi-swap transfer situation with Juventus this summer

Newcastle United are going to be very active in the summer transfer market and are being tipped to spend big in order to address the frailty of the squad.

There are several positions that are desperately in need of cover, and others that would be nice to have more options but won't derail the season if we don't address them immediately.

On that first list is of course a right winger and a right-sided defender to support and eventually replace Fabian Schar who just signed a contract extension this week.

Newcastle have the likes of Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen still on their radar, but neither of those will come cheap.

Newcastle want Federico Gatti from Juventus

Now The Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle could turn their attention towards Federico Gatti of Juventus who they've also been linked with before.

The Italian club are strapped for cash and could be forced to sell with Newcastle hoping that a £20 million bid would do it.

That figure is of course significant as that's what The Old Lady will be sending Newcastle's way for the permanent signing of on-loan Lloyd Kelly. So we could effectively let them keep their money and we get Gatti in return.

Despatch Agent Sandro to seal the deal

The 26-year-old Italy international has been a regular starter for Juventus making 103 appearances for Juve since joining in 2022.

We're sure Sandro Tonali could convince his compatriot to move to the North East.

It could be a good move for both clubs, although Newcastle would definitely be getting the better part of the deal if they could convince Juve to part with Gatti for just £20 million.
