Newcastle United have been a bit slow to release details of any pre-season games this summer with only the Far East tour in Japan confirmed so far.

The club is set to once again host the Sela Cup at St James' Park before the season gets underway which will see a host of games played out over two consecutive days at St James' Park, but details are still to be confirmed.

However, The Chronicle are now reporting that the Magpies could be set to face Hull City at the MKM Stadium in July before they jet off to Japan.

This is still not confirmed so dates and ticketing information is not yet available.

Ayoze Perez hit the equaliser for Newcastle six years ago

Rafa Benitez was in charge the last time the two sides met

The last time the two sides met was in July 2018 and was also a pre-season friendly at the then-named KCOM Stadium where 2500 Newcastle fans descended upon the city of Hull for a damp night of football.

Under Rafa Benitez, Newcastle played out a 2-2 draw with the Tigers with goals from two members of Spain's Euro 2024 squad on the scoresheet for the Mags.

Joselu opened the scoring but goals either side of half time saw the hosts take a 2-1 lead.

Let's hope Eddie Howe's lads are more convincing

Ayoze Perez came to Newcastle's rescue with the equaliser to spare Rafa's blushes.

Hopefully, our current crop of players will be a tad more convincing should the fixture go ahead next month.

We'll be keeping an eye out for any updates around friendly fixtures.
