Reports from France suggest that 27-year-old winger Newcastle United had bid €50million for two years ago is 'unlikely' to stay put this summer.

Ligue 1 side Rennes are expecting Martin Terrier to leave the club this summer, but since suffering an ACL injury and missing 10 months of football, they're not expecting to get anywhere near what the Magpies bid before his injury.

Terrier picked up his ACL injury in January of 2023 and subsequently missed the rest of the season and the first half of last season, much like Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman this year for Newcastle.

L'Equipe are reporting that Rennes will be looking to cash in on the left winger this summer.

Martin Terrier was on the radar of a few Premier League clubs

Newcastle, West Ham and Leeds were interested in Martin Terrier

Terrier managed 35 appearances last season despite only returning to action in October and managed eight goals to go along with them, but his overall form left a lot to be desired despite a run of good form in January and February.

Newcastle were joined by West Ham and Leeds United in their interest in Martin Terrier in 2022 but the Magpies are more likely to bid for his brother Jack Russel Terrier this summer than Martin.

The Magpies ultimately landed their priority target Anthony Gordon so it's highly unlikely that they'll reignite their interest.

You've got to find the little things that make you smile

So, if we're not linked with a bid then why even write about it? I hear you ask,

Well, it's simple ... I just wanted to make that Jack Russel joke, simple as that. I know, it wasn't even good, but if I didn't get it out of me it will have just melted brain cells all night until I found an outlet.

Nobody said you're not allowed to have fun at work, so until they do, I'm gonna keep amusing myself. Bet you're glad we don't charge for this.
