With Newcastle United's current squad issues the thought of selling any players in January is enough to make your stomach turn.

However, one of our stars has caught the eye of a couple of Premier League clubs and now Football Insider have reported that the club have quoted a price.

28-year-old Jacob Murphy is the player in question with Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace said to be the interested parties with Newcastle slapping a £25million price tag on the winger.

Newcastle could make a £13million profit on Murphy

Newcastle bought Murphy from Norwich for £12million in 2017 and he's been a really important utility player, especially under Eddie Howe who tends to call on him for every game he's available.

Maybe a year ago we wouldn't have been bothered about the idea of losing Jacob Murphy, especially if we could make a £13million profit on him after six years, but now, we say keep your greasy mitts off.

Murphy has developed into a top-quality player under Eddie Howe. Howe's staff have praised Murphy in training, saying that nobody at the club trains better, but he struggled with the belief required to turn those training performances into match performances.

Murphy is currently recovering after shoulder surgery

Now he's managed to do that, we wouldn't want Murphy to go anywhere.

Currently out with a dislocated shoulder, Murphy is one of the many long-term casualties Newcastle has to contend with right now and with that in mind, selling a first-team player in January is an absolute no-no.

We don't see Murphy going anywhere. The lifelong Newcastle fan will not want to leave while this project is going so well and he's a big part of it, we won't want to lose any players and we also doubt Forest or Palace will fork out £25million for him.
