Newcastle United are bracing themselves for January bids for Jacob Murphy according to a report today.
While all the attention has been on incoming transfers this January, it's easy to forget that there could still be outgoings.
Although right now, selling literally anyone would be a crazy idea given how threadbare the squad is, by the time the January transfer window comes around things may have improved enough that Newcastle could be willing to let a player or two leave.
Football Insider has today claimed that Jacob Murphy is now the subject of interest for Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace who could look to try and prise Murphy away from Newcastle this winter.
Murphy is of course recovering from shoulder surgery and is unavailable to play, but that won't have put Forest and Palace off, especially given how well the former Norwich City man has been playing of late.
It's that form, and the fact that Eddie Howe is a huge admirer that leads us to believe that Murphy will be going nowhere, especially not in January.
The boyhood Newcastle fan would likely want to stay too as he's having the time of his life right now (apart from the injury, of course). Murphy has got to represent the club he loves in the Champions League. There's barely a game when he's fit that he doesn't feature in some way.
He's not going to trade that in for a mid-table Premier League club with all due respect to Crystal Palace and Notts Forest.
Jacob Murphy is a Newcastle player and we bloody love him, so keep your mitts off.
