The January transfer window ended in huge disappointment for Newcastle United fans but work is already underway to ensure that the summer window doesn't go the same way.
Obviously, the two windows are like chalk and cheese when it comes to the type of business that gets done, add to that the fact that the summer is essentially a new set of accounts for clubs to play with, that means Newcastle can ease up when it comes to worrying about FFP. Bear in mind that the Premier League are meeting this week to discuss changes to the current FFP/PSR structure.
It's little surprise then, that Newcastle's scouts are hard at work compiling information on various summer targets from around the world.
One player that has caught the Magpies' attention is 20-year-old Argentine Matias Soule of Juventus. We've mentioned him before and it seems that Newcastle are still keen having recently sent scouts to watch him.
TV Play in Italy have claimed that scouts from Newcastle and Crystal Palace were in attendance as Frosinone (where Soule is currently on loan) lost 3-2 to AC Milan. A game in which Soule scored one and assisted the other for Frosinone.
Tutto Juve believes that Juventus will allow Soule to leave this summer should bids come in of around £34million (€40million).
The right-winger could be seen as the long-term replacement for Miguel Almiron who is expected to leave Newcastle this summer after turning down a move to Saudi Arabia in January.
Soule has already drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi, but is obviously still short of that level, but who knows, with a bit of encouragement and good coaching, he could get close.
Crystal Palace have had a good record of signing exciting young players that Newcastle have had an eye on having picked up Matheus Franca in the summer and Adam Wharton last month, so it won't be a straightforward run for Newcastle should they make their move.
