It has been a busy day at Newcastle United with Martin Dubravka already having been confirmed as signing a new deal at the club, but he's not the only one.

Emil Krafth has committed to Newcastle for another season as the club has announced he has signed a one-year extension to his existing deal, which will keep him around until summer 2026.

Dubravka and Krafth were two of eight first-team players with contracts set to expire in the summer, and of the eight, they are probably the two we most expected to be offered a new deal.

Emil 'Krafu' Krafth has shown time and time again that he was worth more than the meagre £5 million we paid Amiens for him in 2019.

Krafu impressed when covering for Kieran Trippier

Krafth became another one of those players who went up a couple of levels under Eddie Howe. He was called upon to deputise for Kieran Trippier early in the former England man's Newcastle career, and Krafth did so well it was like we still had Trippier on the pitch. That's where the Swedish star earned his nickname of "Krafu", a comparison to Brazilian legend Cafu.

The 30-year-old is excited for the rest of the season and, like Dubravka, has called Newcastle his home when speaking to the official site.

"I'm delighted to extend my time at Newcastle United for another year. It's an exciting time to be part of this club.

"We have a lot to play for throughout the rest of this season, and I'm looking forward playing my part in helping the team finish the season in a positive way.

"It feels like home here for both me and my family, having been here for such a long time. We all enjoy everything about being part of this club, and I love playing for Newcastle United."

Eddie Howe praised Krafth's versatility

Eddie Howe spoke about Krafth's versatility being a huge asset for Newcastle.

"I'm delighted we have extended Emil's contract. He is an incredible professional in the way he trains, plays and conducts himself.

"He offers us versatility in defensive positions, which is vital to have, along with vast experience and a steadying influence. He will continue to be an important part of our squad on and off the pitch."
