Newcastle United travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Saturday evening. Kick-off is at 5:30pm live on Sky Sports.

Eddie Howe will be hoping his boys can build on the fantastic performance they put in against Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Liam Rosenior's side suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat in Paris when they met PSG and will be looking to banish the memory of that game with a win in the Premier League.

History is very much against the Magpies in this fixture, but history counts for nothing on the night.

Chris Sutton is backing a home win on Saturday based off history

However, Chris Sutton is banking on history repeating as he makes his score prediction for the BBC.

"Chelsea's recent record against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge is really good - they have won 11 of their 12 league games there since 2012, and drew the other one.

"I just wonder how deflated Liam Rosenior's side will be after being pumped in Paris on Wednesday night - Paris St-Germain's fifth goal felt like a real hammer blow.

"This game finished 2-2 earlier in the season when Nick Woltemade put Newcastle 2-0 up before Chelsea fought back in the second half.

"Newcastle will be hoping Anthony Gordon is back at 100% after his illness that meant he was only a substitute against Barcelona on Tuesday.

"But even if Gordon does start, I am still pretty confident Chelsea will win this one.

"Sutton's prediction: 2-1"

Chris Sutton as ruined my day

I don't like looking at fixture history because when it's brought to my attention, I fixate on it. I was quietly confident going into this game, but now that I'm aware of our record at Stamford Bridge, I can't see us getting anything.

As much as I am aware that these records are there to be broken, it does carry some psychological weight, and now all I'm going to be able to think about is how we've not won at Stamford Bridge in the last 12 attempts in the league - it's 14 in all competitions. Cheers, Chris!

Well, let's just think of this as an added incentive and go out there and end this run!
