In midweek, it was reported that Yoane Wissa had hobbled off the field when replaced during the DR Congo defeat to Senegal.

Wissa had scored earlier in the game but was replaced midway through the second half.

Early reports suggested that he had picked up a knock, although there was no confirmation of this until Eddie Howe spoke to the press this morning.

While Howe was sketchy on the details, he did confirm that Yoane Wissa would miss tomorrow's game against Wolves.

Yoane Wissa will have to wait to make his Newcastle United debut

Eddie Howe said the dreaded "S" word when talking about Yoane Wissa's injury

Speaking about his new signing, Howe confirmed that Wissa will not make tomorrow's game, which leaves the door wide open for Nick Woltemade to make his debut.

"He won't make this game. I saw him for the first time yesterday. he is feeling the effects of the injury he sustained before he came off so we will have to see how he is. He will go away for tests and maybe see a specialist to see."

It's never confidence-inspiring when the word 'specialist' is used, so it's now sounding like we may have to wait a while to see Wissa in action.

We've got no issues with Nick Woltemade leading the line tomorrow

On a more positive note, Howe did say that he has no issue about playing any of his new signings straight away, which means he has full confidence that Woltemade will be able to do a job on Saturday.

However, later in the press conference, Howe did speak about the need to be patient with the German forward as he gets used to the big change from going from the Bundesliga to the Premier League.

We've got everything crossed that Wissa's injury isn't as serious as it sounds and that the specialist is just precautionary more than anything else. But we do back Woltemade to step up when needed.
