In the last 24 hours the contract situation with Newcastle United and Anthony Gordon has gone from slow, to close to practically done.
This morning it was revealed that terms were all but agreed between the England winger and Newcastle and the former Everton man was about to become one of the club's highest earners.
Since then Fabrizio Romano has provided more details on the contract saying that the 23-year-old is set to sign a deal that will keep him at the club until 2030.
This is bound to come as a blow to Liverpool and Arsenal who both had designs on taking Gordon away from Newcastle.
Of course, just because Gordon's contract runs to 2030 it doesn't mean he'll stay at Newcastle that long, but it does put the club in a much stronger position to negotiate a bumper fee should any club come calling for his services.
Give Me Sport have also claimed that there's no release clause in the contract either unlike in Bruno Guimaraes' recent new deal.
The lack of a release clause is a huge statement of intent by both the club and Anthony Gordon.
For Gordon not to try and insert a release clause in his contract does suggest that he's ready to commit fully to Newcastle after reportedly having his head turned by talks of a move to Liverpool in the summer.
Hopefully, now that things are reaching an inevitable conclusion, Gordon can get his head back in the game and we start to see the player we all fell in love with last season once again.
Tomorrow's game against Manchester City would be the ideal time for Anthony Gordon to rediscover his magic touch that served us so well last season.
