Newcastle United appear to be shopping for wingers again, ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Yesterday, the Magpies were linked with left-sided forward Abde Ezzalzouli, and today we're looking at the opposite flank, according to Craig Hope in his Newcastle Confidential column.

We weren't too convinced by the Ezzalzouli rumours, given his preferred position and the source of the story, but we're inclined to have a bit more faith in what Hope is saying.

Newcastle are apparently keen on Union Saint-Gilloise winger Anan Khalalli after the Israel International has impressed in the Champions League, scoring three goals during this campaign.

Newcastle are keen on USG winger Anan Khalalli

Newcastle had a close-up look at Khalalli in October, with the winger playing 78 minutes of the game Newcastle won 4-0 in Belgium.

The 21-year-old is admired by the scouting team, and it's felt that if Newcastle are going to add to their right-sided options, they'd look for a young, inexpensive option to provide competition for Anthony Elanga.

Anan Khalalli could be the succession plan for Jacob Murphy, and indeed Elanga, if his performances don't improve next season.

Brighton could prove to be an issue if Newcastle want to sign Khalalli

Acquisitions from Belgium rarely cause too much damage to a Premier League club's transfer budget, although we've no idea what USG would ask for Khalallil.

Price may not be the biggest hurdle, though, as signing players from Union Saint-Gilloise can be complicated by the fact that they are part-owned by Brighton owner Tony Bloom, so if they feel Khalalli is up to snuff, they will get first dibs.

It could be one to keep an eye on going forward. Let's just hope that Brighton aren't in the market for an inexpensive winger, too.
