Newcastle United bounced back from a disappointing draw against Luton by fighting for a win over Nottingham Forest.

Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar scored for the Magpies as they inflicted Newcastle's first-ever defeat on a Nuno Espirito Santo side having been pegged back to level terms twice in the game.

Newcastle's form on the road this season has been a big issue, but the win yesterday has now made it four wins in a row in all competitions away from home. Those wins sandwich last week's 4-4 draw at home and a defeat to Manchester City at St James' Park, suggesting that the tide has turned somewhat.

Amanda Staveley was 'so proud' of her team last night

Whatever the case, Newcastle had cause to celebrate last night and Amanda Staveley got in on the action online.

Wor Mandy was loving life last night

Sharing an image of Bruno Guimaraes celebrating his second goal, Amanda Staveley took to Instagram to praise the players.

"Amazing performance today. So proud, as always, of this team. They keep showing up and today they bring home 3 points 🖤🤍 #howaythelads"

Warren Barton was loving it

Plenty of fans joined in and offered their kind words, and amongst them was former Newcastle defender and adopted Geordie Warren Barton who simply said "Get in" followed by black and white circles and a thumbs up.

It's amazing just how much a win can change the mood around this club with the belief back again that European football will once again return to Tyneside next season. Maybe not the Champions League, but Europa or Europa Conference could be on.

There's still a long way to go but it doesn't feel out of reach any more.
