Newcastle United could look to 'extraordinary' Juventus striker to challenge Alexander Isak for starting spot

Alexander Isak is Newcastle United's main man in attack, but to build on the success of this season, we can't rely on the Swede to carry us in every game, especially with the extra games competing in Europe will bring next season.

Callum Wilson cannot be relied upon and still remains a prime candidate to leave the club this summer anyway, while Will Osula has bags of potential, but is still too raw for Eddie Howe to put his trust in just yet.

Therefore, the Magpies will look to bring in a top, established striker this summer with several options currently being assessed.

It's believed that Newcastle will be among the melee to snap up free agent Jonathan David when his Lille contract expires this summer, but competition for his signature will be wild, so Newcastle need other options.

Dusan Vlahovic has been linked to Newcastle plenty of times in the past

A report from Tuttosport in Italy has now suggested that Newcastle could look towards Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is also wanted by Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Newcastle have looked at Vlahovic before, and the Serbian was one of the names that was bandied about post-takeover but Newcastle never really got beyond the 'looking' phase.

The striker, dubbed 'extraordinary' by Serbia national coach Dragan Stojkovic has 14 goals and five assists for Juve this season and is entering the final year of his contract, which could prompt the Italian side to sell rather than risk losing him for free next year.

Dusan Vlahovic has a decent strike record for Juventus

Vlahovic has 55 goals in 138 games for Juventus, which isn't a bad haul by any means. Alexander Isak has 60 goals in 105 games for Newcastle, for comparison.

Given that he could be available for a reduced fee due to his contract situation, he would definitely be worth a punt. He's not being chased by top Premier League sides for no reason.

He may not be our first choice, but we certainly wouldn't be upset if he were to end up being the player Newcastle bring in to support Alexander Isak this summer.
