Eddie Howe is slowly getting his squad back, albeit at the most pointless time he could with just two games remaining this season.

Newcastle United have suffered through one of the worst seasons in terms of injuries in recent memory. Eddie Howe didn't even have a full squad to pick from on the opening weekend with Joe Willock starting the season in the treatment room and it just got worse from there.

Now that the season is coming to an end, most players are returning to fitness, Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman being the obvious exceptions.

Even players who Howe had said we'd not see in action again this season have made returns to training.

Fabian Schar was determined to return this season

Fabian Schar had been an ever-present in the Premier League this season, shaking off knocks every other week to make sure he was fit until his luck finally ran out in the game against Sheffield United where he was hooked at halftime. Eddie Howe then said that we'd not see him again this season.

However, the 2019 North East Player of the Year winner had other ideas though, posting on social media that his injury isn't as bad as Howe made out and he would return this season.

Now, in his press conference this morning, Eddie Howe has admitted that Schar was right.

Schar's ability to recover from injury is Wolverine-esque

As reported by The Chronicle, Eddie Howe has now said that there's a chance that Schar could be involved at Old Trafford tomorrow night.

"He’s working his way back. Doing a mix of training and being with medical staff, making really good progress from a hamstring problem, we’ll wait and see if he’s available for tomorrow’s game."

If Schar makes it back for tomorrow's game that would be unbelievable: Recovering from a hamstring injury in under three weeks. Mind blowing.
