The agent of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has taken to social media to explain the reason he has made trips to France in the last month.

Alexis Malavolta, in charge of Guimaraes' relations, is currently in Paris which has caused concern for Newcastle fans who thought that the Brazilian may be on his way out of the club.

Malavolta made a post on X (formerly Twitter) with the French flag emoji, the post has since been deleted.

Fans also noticed that the agent was at the Parc des Princes for PSG's French Cup semi-final game against Rennes earlier in the month.

Bruno is very happy at Newcastle.

Malavolta took to X once again this morning ease the nerves of any worried Toon fans.

"Good morning. I would like to point out that I am in Paris for private and family reasons and not for work. Please respect and don't make up stories.

"Bruno is very happy in Newcastle. THANKS!"

Guimaraes has been linked with a move away from Tyneside all season, PSG and Manchester City have expressed an interest in signing the Newcastle number 39.

Last week, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said that Guimaraes is a "very rare" type of player and expressed his desire to keep him at the club for the long term despite his £100million release clause.

Bruno has been a key player for Newcastle this season.

It goes without saying that Guimaraes is a special, special player. Last Saturday, he marked his 100th Newcastle appearance with the winning goal against Fulham. He has missed just seven games in that time and Newcastle have failed to win in any of the games he's missed.

His importance to the squad is clear, with the likes of Joelinton and Sandro Tonali returning to the squad next season it feels like he has to stay to ensure that Newcastle have one of the strongest midfield's in the Premier League.
