Newcastle United fans have endured the most frustrating summer since Mike Ashley was in charge of the club this year.

We've seen our popular owner step aside, our manager has been heavily linked with another job, we sold two young players we wanted to keep in order to comply with a rule nobody agrees with and brought in a goalkeeper nobody wanted as part of that deal.

Newcastle still have many players on the books who should have been moved on, we've messed about for a month getting one player through the door who still isn't in yet and is now cup-tied if we do get him. The signings we have made have been less than inspiring too.

But hey, we have a new fan zone! Although even that opened a month later than expected.

We're still waiting...

The toxicity is creeping back in on social media

Things are turning a bit toxic online and it's not hard to see why.

As much as we are assured every day by journalists that the Marc Guehi deal is still going to get done, the fact is we've been hearing that for three weeks now.

Tonight Newcastle head to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup where they will come up against one of the youngsters sold for PSR purposes.

We will return you to your regular scheduled positivity soon

It would just be the cherry on top of the crap sundae that has been this summer if Elliot Anderson scores a winning goal for Forest and knocks Newcastle out of the cup at the first time of asking.

Hopefully, it won't happen, and I expect Newcastle to win tonight, but I'd like to know what odds you'd get on this happening.

I promise I'll return to a more positive tone after the transfer window closes and I've had time to get over this summer shambles. I don't like this negativity any more than you do, but it has been relentless!
