Less than 48 hours after playing in his first Wear-Tyne derby, Sean Longstaff could be about to leave Newcastle United.
Alan Nixon of The Sun has claimed that Newcastle will be willing to listen to offers on the Geordie midfielder with several clubs interested in the 26-year-old.
Sean Longstaff is a product of the Newcastle academy and if the club were to sell him it would represent pure profit in terms of FFP opening a nice gap for Newcastle to operate in.
The flip side is, it takes away a homegrown player from our pool should we qualify for Europe again.
Longstaff has a had a rollercoaster of a career at Newcastle. He burst onto the scene and was so impressive there was talk of a £50million move to Manchester United.
Steve Bruce came in and systematically broke Longstaff to the point where he was ready to turn his back on the club, but after Bruce was sacked and Eddie Howe came in, Longy got a new lease of life and became an important player in the team.
He has had his injury problems this season, much like everyone who has touched a black and white shirt, but since returning to the fold, he's not been anywhere near his best.
The North Shields native spurned three great chances against Sunderland on Saturday which is quickly becoming his party piece unfortunately.
Whether that's grounds enough to move him on is up for debate, especially as according to The Sun, the interested parties are looking at loan deals with an option to buy so shifting him in January won't unlock that FFP potential until the summer anyway.
