League leaders Liverpool come to St James' Park off the back of beating Real Madrid and Manchester City, so they will be absolutely buzzing as they rock up to take on Newcastle United on Wednesday night - 7:30pm kick-off live on Amazon Prime.

There are a couple of things Newcastle can look at as advantages given that Liverpool played on Sunday which means Newcastle have had an extra day to recover.

Also, Arne Slot's low on options in defence meaning the same back-line that played on Sunday will start on Wednesday too with very little option to change things around.

Meanwhile, Alexander Isak has declared himself fit to play even though Eddie Howe is trying to downplay it, so we could have a good chance of maybe having an attempt on goal in this game.

Liverpool have had it their own way over Newcastle for too long

Chris Sutton is less than convinced by his own score prediction

Chris Sutton has made his score prediction for the BBC and while he did offer up some hope in his write-up, he ultimately landed on an away win.

"Newcastle have looked a little flat recently, and have been lacking a cutting edge.

"This is still a tough game for Liverpool, though, off the back of such a big week for them with wins over Real Madrid and Manchester City.

"The Magpies have already beaten Arsenal at St James' Park this season and they are certainly capable of getting something against Liverpool too, but you just cannot back against the leaders at the moment.

"Arne Slot has such great strength in depth right through his squad and they can win games in different ways. Even if they do drop points here, their bubble is not going to burst anytime soon.

St James' Park always gives Newcastle hope

Sutton has gone with the same scoreline as Paul Merson and we'd be surprised to see any pundits predicting anything other than a Liverpool win.

In a way though, that could take the pressure off us as everyone is expecting the Reds to win so anything we do to prevent that happening would be seen as a bonus.

At the end of the day, this is still St James' Park, and while it hasn't exactly been a fortress this season, we always have a chance when we're on the hallowed turf.
